News And Events
Local Events Triumph events and functions are held regularly in each centre throughout the year. Refer to the relevant centre regarding more information about past events and any future events to be held in the centre closest to you. Each centre usually has a monthly ‘noggin’ ‘n natter’ as well as at least one run per month. An annual concours d’Elegance is also held by each centre to promote the preservation of the marque and to find the top car in the centre. Joint events are sometimes organized by some centres because of their close proximity to each other. National Events National Gathering: Every two years, the Triumph Sports Car Club of South Africa holds a National Gathering for the participation of all Triumph Club members in South Africa and their guests and friends. As the word gathering implies, this event is primarily seen as a social event, but it is balanced off with a few competitive events such as the Triumph National Concours, and inter -centre competitions of a light-hearted nature. The aim is to provide enjoyment for all and an opportunity for all in the Triumph fraternity to meet once more.
NATIONAL GATHERING 2008
The 16th biennial national gathering will be organized and hosted by the Pretoria Centre. The venue will be the Maselspoort Resort outside Bloemfontein in the Free State Province. The first ever national gathering of the Triumph Club of SA took place at Maselspoort in 1978. Next year’s gathering will be exactly 30 years later, so a suitable theme will be ‘Maselspoort 30 years on’. The advantage of a venue more or less in the geographical centre of South Africa is the equalization of traveling time and costs from most of the club’s spatially dispersed centres. Arrival date: Saturday, 26th April 2008; Departure: Thursday, 1st May 2008. The dates were chosen because both Monday 28th April, and Thursday 1st May, will be public holidays. This means that participants will have to take only two days leave off work (Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th April) in order to attend the five day event. The Pretoria Club made a group booking and prospective participants will be able to book once the registration and booking forms have been distributed in the June 2007 issue of Sabrina, our club’s quarterly magazine. The programme of events is not finalized yet but a likely schedule could be as follows: Saturday 26th April: Arrival, registration and evening welcome function. Sunday 27th April: Day at leisure or car cleaning opportunity for concours participants. Monday 28th April: Triumph show day and concours in Bloemfontein. Tuesday 29th April: Treasure hunt and scenic drive in and around Bloemfontein. Wednesday 30th April: BGM, driving test, and evening dinner-dance (closing function). Thursday 1st May: Departure for home, while those who want stay for a day or two can do so at extra cost. As our plans make progress new details will be posted to this website on a regular basis.
